THE CHILD SELF

“Heavenly CREATOR of my BEing,
where am I to direct my energies?
What do you wish these eyes to see
and this heart to embrace?” I ask.

“Come forth child;
allow your innocence to come forth.
May your ‘inner Child’ be a fresh-faced filter,
sifting out false beliefs of inflicted pain,
impure thoughts, and inappropriate actions.
Dive deep into the pool of transparency,
the pool of laughter and play,
the pool of your delightful ‘inner child.’
Here you will find truth in the form
of high pitched giggles

or
the sad tears of a broken heart.
A broken heart, by the way, that can
recover in an instant
when offered the opportunity
to march about shaking a rattle
or beating a hand-made drum.

The innocent joy of little children,
light-hearted fairy spirits,
is wondrous to be hold.

Oh, to see again the world through
an orange Kool-Aid glass
or a sudsy, bath bubble.
Such a delight to watch
box-elder bugs crawl up your arm
or smell your ‘mommy’s love’
as you bounce downstairs,
whiffing the aroma of freshly baked
chocolate-chip cookies.”

So again...
I ask Holy Spirit,
“When will MY life feel safe,
and light-hearted?
When will I get to snuggle in warm arms?
Where can I find yesterday’s child?”

“Child of love,

take a deep breath...
and FEEL;
feel the inner child of your heart.
It will make you smile.
Life can be simple,
life can be safe,
life can be full of laughter and love.

It is what you enfold in your heart,
for what you focus your attention on
is magically drawn to you.
It is your choice!

Merge with your heart’s inner child.
Become the dancer, the song, the poet,
the playful inventor, the mini creator.
Together, open to sprinkle-giggles.
Amidst the darkness,
laugh and dance

around Spirit’s fire pit,
and then skip stones across
the smooth, watery surface of life.
